About Chris Symanoskie
Mr. Chris Symanoskie, IRC - Vice President, Corporate Development and Investor Relations
As the Vice President of Corporate Development and Investor Relations for Atomic Biometrics, Mr. Symanoskie leads the company’s communications and investor relations program, in addition to assisting the company’s founder with talent acquisition, business development and strategic planning. Prior to joining Atomic Biometrics, Mr. Symanoskie developed and led the investor relations strategy of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (NASDAQ: HMHC) which, in less than a year, resulted in a 60% increase in stock price.
For more than 15 years, Mr. Symanoskie was the head of Corporate Communications for American Public Education, Inc. (NASDAQ: APEI) where he developed the company’s highly visible and proactive investor relations (IR) program – ranked among the top IR programs by Investor Relations Magazine. After joining the company in 2007, Mr. Symanoskie shaped the communications strategy for APEI’s initial public offering, which was the NASDAQ’s second most successful domestic IPO of 2007. He also guided APEI’s financial communications during a period of rapid industry change. Among many initiatives, Mr. Symanoskie has led APEI’s senior management team in development of its mission and vision; supported the executive team in strategic planning and assisted in business development (with a focus on education technology, training, assessment and testing companies) to support the company’s M&A efforts.
Prior to joining APEI, Mr. Symanoskie led the investor relations and corporate communications program for Laureate Education, Inc. (NASDAQ: LAUR) – a higher education company with operations in over 16 countries. During his seven-year tenure there, he successfully guided Laureate’s corporate and investor communications through a major corporate strategy shift and several complex acquisitions and divestitures. In addition, he was instrumental in the research, development and launch of the Laureate International Universities brand and visual identity. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Symanoskie was the Manager of Investor Relations for Strayer Education (NASDAQ: STRA), a post-secondary company with campus-based and online operations.
As member of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), Mr. Symanoskie was the Founding President of its Baltimore Chapter from 2000 to 2006, where he took an active role in providing professional development to the Baltimore-area IR community. Mr. Symanoskie was a member of the inaugural IRC class and recently published an article in IR Update titled, “Engaging with Institutional Sales Teams.” He is currently a member of NIRI Charlotte, NC Chapter and serves as a volunteer/mentor at the Virginia Tech/APEX Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Symanoskie holds an MBA from Strayer University (1999) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (1994) from Virginia Tech.
